I'm a Seventh-day Adventist. Not your ordinary type. I'm one of those who believes God gives us the power to overcome sin and to live victorious lives. I believe in forsaking all practices that are against the Bible (and God's will) and living a life that glorifies Him.
I'm a Titus 2 wife and mother. I believe the Christian mother is best placed to take care of the household and children-circumstances allowing.
I firmly believe that in the same way Peter, Daniel, Elijah etc were inspired by God, so was Ellen White. There's no way a woman with only a 3rd grade education could come up with info that science is only catching up to now. In her day, tobacco was the 'in' thing and she spoke against it, going against the medical fraternity. She recognised the need for a healthy lifestyle, she makes the Bible so practical and NEVER goes against, or argues against what God has told us to do.
I said I'm different to the ordinary Adventist.
I don't wear pants, my daughter doesn't either unless it's under a skirt/dress. We are vegan because of health reasons. We don't watch fiction (Phil 4:8) and we don't listen to most types of secular music. There are many other ways in which we are different, but I'll stop there for now..Oh, like the JW, I believe women (who aren't under Divine inspiration) should not preach/teach in a mixed congregation (1 Tim 2:8-15 and 1 Cor 14:33-36) and we shouldn't watch nor partake in competitive sports. As Paul admonishes-"Let nothing be done through strife and vainglory."
Yes, life seems like a list of 'don'ts' but the commandments, the book of Leviticus is also a list of those. And interestingly enough, I find total freedom in obedience.
